Fighting breast cancer through education, outreach, and empowerment.
BCI Pakistan was started by Dr. Rabia Bhatti, who is a Breast Surgeon, in January 2024. She noted a gap in the breast cancer care in Pakistan, as the care seems to be only for people who can afford the care. Her goal is to provide breast cancer care to the poor women in urban slums of Pakistan. Pakistan has one of the highest death rates from breast cancer, as most of the patients are presenting at later stages of cancer when it is not treatable. Also, patients cannot complete treatment as it is not affordable for them.
Dr. Bhatti and her team provide awareness services in the urban slums. If a woman has a breast issue, it is treated at a local clinic. If there is suspicion of cancer, then the BCI team takes the woman to local hospitals for breast cancer treatment.
